چکیده
Abstract The stem nematode, Ditylenchus dipsaci , is a severe pest in European sugar beet production. In France, Germany, and Switzerland, D. damage varies among specific geographic areas. this study, the reproduction potential of four geographically distinct populations was determined using sterile carrot disc cultures. addition, virulence pathogenicity were investigated in-vivo beet. No difference found on discs, as well penetration rate seedlings. tissue significantly affected by population used. from Seeland (CH) showed highest number nematodes per plant at 60 dpi (21,071.8 ± 5340.0), compared to three other contained 3588.6 3858.3, 5136.9 4950.8, 3579.7 5174.2, respectively. Furthermore, negatively correlated with fresh biomass beets dpi. Based these results, “Seeland” suitable for breeding programs detect resistance After selecting candidate genotypes/varieties, should be further evaluated their field targeted growing regions.

Extracts of nematodes of the Raleigh, North Carolina (RNC), Waynesville, N. C. (WNC), and onion populations of Ditylenchus dipsaci were examined for pectolytic activity. RNC nematodes contained a NaCl-stimulated endo-polymethylgalacturonase with optimal pH for activity of 6.0, whereas nematodes of the WNC and onion populations possessed a NaCl-stimulated endo-polygalacturonase with pH optimum o...
متن کاملParasitism of Nonhost Cultivars by Ditylenchus dipsaci.
The alfalfa race of Ditylenchus dipsaci parasitized and caused characteristic symptoms on nonhost seedlings of sweet clover, onion, tomato, sugarbeet, and wheat in controlled growth-chamber studies. Although the nematode was unable to reproduce on any of the cultivars, it caused plant mortality ranging from 20% on sugarbeet and tomato to 100% on onion.

Ditylenchus dipsaci-infected and noninfected alfalfa plants in a naturally infested field were studied from July 1980 to September 1982. Forty-one percent of the plants died during the study. Ninety-seven percent of the plants that died were infected with D. dipsaci. Sixty-nine percent of the observed mortality occurred during winter. Forage yield of infected plants was significantly lower than...

Leaves of both plants develop in the crown near the soil; they are large, 20-30 cm long, and densely arranged so that nematodes on younger leaves are protected from direct solar irradiation. The dense pubescent foliage, especially the convoluted young...
